Is lip liner really necessary?

I've read that whenever you put on lipstick,. to always apply lip liner first to avoid ';bleeding.'; If I don't apply any liner, will my lips really look that bad?Is lip liner really necessary?
Lip liner just helps to accentuate your lips %26amp; makes them fuller. It also ';holds'; color in so it will last longer. I've found that little extra step makes a big difference. I always wear an invisible one, even with glosses.Is lip liner really necessary?

It keeps your lipstick from bleeding. Try to use the same or similar color as your lipstick, so you won't look like a clown.
